IIFACTOR M08E Review: How Good Are These AI Smart Glasses, Really?
The IIFACTOR M08E costs $89.99 — and for that money, you get a first-person camera, real-time translation, a voice assistant, and open-ear audio packed into a frame that weighs about 40g without lenses. That is undeniably a lot of features for a pair of AI glasses under a hundred dollars. The real question is whether the experience holds up, or if the price comes with too many trade-offs.
Inside, the M08E uses a 13MP Sony IMX681 sensor for photos and 1080p video. The companion DA ECHO app handles AI translation across 100+ languages, voice Q; A, and a few extras like AI comic art generation. Bluetooth 5.4 with dual-mic ENC takes care of calls and music. Three interchangeable lens sets ship in the box, including adaptive photochromic lenses.
Is the IIFACTOR M08E Worth Buying?
The IIFACTOR M08E is a surprisingly feature-packed pair of budget AI glasses. It combines a 13MP camera, real-time translation, open-ear audio, and a lightweight design, making it a strong choice for travel and everyday hands-free use.
What Are the Best Features of the IIFACTOR M08E?
- 13MP camera for quick photos and 1080p video capture
- Real-time translation with support for 100+ languages
- Open-ear audio keeps you aware of your surroundings
- Lightweight frame at around 40g for comfortable daily wear
Smart Glasses with Camera: 13MP Sony IMX681
The camera is one of the main reasons to consider these AI smart glasses with camera over cheaper audio-only frames. For camera glasses at this price, the Sony IMX681 sensor is a solid choice. It shoots 13MP stills at 4032 x 3012 in JPG, and records 1080p video at 30fps in AVI. That is the ceiling — no 2K, no 4K.
The camera is most useful when you want to capture something quickly without taking out your phone. A tap on the temple takes a photo or starts recording what you are looking at. Travel, cooking, and other hands-on situations are where that advantage makes the most sense. Software stabilization is included, which helps smooth out walking footage.
Onboard storage is 4GB — roughly 3,000 photos or 40 minutes of video. Files transfer to your phone over Wi-Fi through the DA ECHO app, with a rated range of 15 meters in open areas. The app also has a live view feature for framing shots remotely.
AI Translation Glasses: Real-Time Multilingual Support
Translation is probably the most interesting feature here, especially at this price. Among smart glasses with built-in translation, the M08E stands out for its price point. For anyone specifically shopping for AI translation glasses, the combination of 100+ language support and open-ear audio at $89.99 is hard to beat. Through the DA ECHO app, the glasses support real-time translation across over 100 languages.
Two modes are available. Conversation translation captures speech through the dual-mic system, processes it in the app, and plays the result through the open-ear speakers. Simultaneous interpretation mode handles ongoing speech in near real-time — handy when you are sitting through a meeting or trying to follow a conversation in a language you do not speak well.
The open-ear design means you hear both the translation and the person speaking at the same time, which keeps things feeling more natural than holding a phone between you. It still relies on the DA ECHO app and a connected phone for processing, so this is not a fully standalone translation device.
One note: language availability does not necessarily mean every language is supported in every translation mode. If you are relying on the glasses for a specific trip or language pair, it is worth checking the DA ECHO app for the current language list first.
Smart Glasses with AI Assistant: DA ECHO App Features
Most of the smart features live in the DA ECHO app. Beyond translation, it powers:
- Voice assistant: Activated with "Hello, Echo." Supports general Q;A, voice reminders, and information queries.
- AI comic art generation: Turns captured photos into comic-style artwork.
- Voice recording: Captures audio in OGG format for quick notes or meeting documentation.
- Live view: Streams the camera feed to a connected phone for remote framing.
The dual-mic ENC system helps cut down background noise during calls and voice commands. Everything runs through a single app interface — translation, recording, live view, and AI Q&A are all in one place, which is cleaner than splitting features across multiple apps.
For anyone considering smart glasses with AI assistant functionality, the "Hello, Echo" wake word gives you hands-free access to most features without reaching for your phone.
Bluetooth Smart Glasses: Audio and Connectivity
The M08E connects to your phone over Bluetooth 5.4 with a soldered wire antenna, rated for 15 meters or more in open areas. As Bluetooth smart glasses go, the dual-mic ENC system is a step up from budget options that only include a single microphone for calls.
Audio comes from ultra-thin, high-amplitude speakers (15 x 8mm) along the temple arms. Sound travels through air conduction rather than sealing the ear canal. You stay aware of traffic, people, and environmental sounds while listening — useful for walking or commuting.
Photochromic Smart Glasses: Lens System and Frame
One thing that sets the M08E apart from basic AI glasses is the included lens options. The photochromic smart glasses ship with three interchangeable lens sets:
- UV adaptive photochromic lenses: Automatically darken in response to UV light, transitioning from clear indoors to tinted outdoors.
- Transparent lenses: Standard clear lenses for indoor and low-light use.
- Sunglasses lenses: Fixed-tint lenses for bright outdoor conditions.
The frame also supports prescription myopia lenses, which matters for anyone who needs vision correction. Lens swapping uses a simple clip mechanism, and the elastic hinge structure keeps the frame secure regardless of which lens set is installed. For most everyday use, the photochromic lenses mean you can go from inside to outside without manually changing lenses.
Battery Life and Charging
The 300mAh battery delivers very different runtime depending on how you use the glasses:
| Usage Scenario | Battery Life |
|---|---|
| Music playback (normal volume) | Up to 20 hours |
| Music playback (medium/max volume) | Approx. 7-9 hours |
| Phone calls | Approx. 4 hours |
| Video recording (total) | Approx. 20-25 minutes |
Twenty hours of music at normal volume is genuinely good — enough for a full day plus. The 20-hour figure applies to music playback, not camera use. If you plan to record frequently, expect substantially shorter runtime.
Design and Build Quality
The M08E weighs about 40g without lenses (39.99g per spec), with dimensions of 150 x 158 x 51mm. The frame and temples are polycarbonate (PC) — lightweight.
IPX4 is suitable for sweat and light splashes, total package weight is 180g including all accessories.
Controls combine slide-touch sensors and a physical button on the temple arms. The touch controls handle music, calls, and camera activation. The physical button manages power and mode switching — which is good, because it gives tactile confirmation that touch-only systems lack. Wear detection pauses music when you take the glasses off and resumes when you put them back on. Lens blockage detection alerts you if the camera lens is obstructed.
Pricing and Value
For $89.99, you get the camera, AI assistant, translation, open-ear audio, three lens options, and 4GB of storage.

Real-World Use Cases
It is easier to think about the M08E in terms of where it actually shines, rather than what specs it has on paper. Here is where it makes the most sense day to day.
Travel
Translation across 100+ languages is the headline feature here, paired with a first-person camera that lets you capture moments without digging for your phone. The photochromic lenses are a nice bonus for moving between indoor shops and outdoor streets.
Commuting
Open-ear audio means you can listen to music or take calls while still hearing traffic and announcements. The IPX4 rating handles light rain and sweat. At roughly 40g, you can wear them through a full commute without noticing the weight.
Everyday Capture
If you want POV photos and short video clips without reaching for your phone, the tap-to-capture temple button is genuinely convenient. This is where AI glasses with camera have a real advantage over just using your phone — your hands stay free and your perspective stays natural. This works well for cooking, DIY projects, walks, or anything where your hands are already full.
Meetings and Notes
Voice recording through the dual-mic system is useful for capturing meeting notes or quick reminders. The AI assistant can help with fact checks and questions hands-free, though you will need to be near your phone since the processing runs through the DA ECHO app.
